The Ross Family Started into the Circus Business at the turn of the Century. In the 1891 Census it reads, Thomas Ross b 1855 Stalybridge Lancs, was a Cotton Operative in a mill. His wife was Jane b1863 Ramsay, Huntingdon. Children Fred b1878 Saddleworth Yorks (Cotton Operative), James b1880 Mossley , Thomas b1882 Lees, Mary Ann b1883 Lees, Elizabeth b1886 Lees, Jane b1887 Lees, Richard b1890 Lees. As talented Athletes, Fred along with two of his brothers, formed an act and joined Sedgwicks Menagerie. They entertained the crowds as the Lion cage was built up. He met & married Florence Arnold (a widow) & they went on to start “Rosaires Circus”. They took the stage names of “The Count” & “Countess” & had the following children: Dennis, Zena b1909, Ivor b1911, Cicily b1912, E Vivian b1914, Derrick b1916, Ida b1918, Aubrey b1923. They were all stars in their own right. Derrick’s family, Pam, Kay, Linda, Derrick, Ellian, are still working , along with Ida’s son David Rosaire in Sarasota US. Ivor’s son Derrick & Family Travel the UK. Dennis’s Son Carlos & family is based in Ayora Spain. Zena’s daughter Joan is based in Billericay,UK.
